Multi-Story Hotel / Mixed-Use Complex

Proposed Starwood Aloft Hotel

Harrisburg, PA  //  Urban Infill  – New Construction  //  2007

The extensive scope of work for this proposed mixed-use facility includes the demolition of two, three-story properties located at the southeast corner of Second and State Streets in downtown Harrisburg and the preparation of the site including excavation and utility infrastructure improvements for the construction of a mixed-use retail, hospitality and residential facility. The new structure features ground floor retailing including a corner restaurant, 12 stories of hotel rooms and a top floor Gallery available for private parties. While remaining sympathetic to the contextual streetscape, the architectural embellishment blends 21st century building technologies with sensitively designed textural elements reminiscent of the 19th century. At street level and including the first three floors, the exterior treatments include simulated limestone details such as column piers, lintels and window sills coupled with red brick masonry. The overall composition creates a light-weight structure set-back from the street frontage by as much as eighteen feet at the prominent corner.
