Independent Living Retirement Apartments

Dallas, PA  //  New Construction //  2008

Subsequent to the success of the Golden Meadows community completed in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, TONO Architects was again retained by the Masonic Village to plan a new retirement community. Working in conjunction with Warfel Construction Company and David Miller/Associates of Lancaster, the team conceived a multi-dimensional independent living village set upon an existing golf course in the mountains west of Wilkes-Barre. Planned for numerous phases of growth, the first phase contains a 45 unit, four-story apartment building, 38 one-story cottages and a new Clubhouse. Completed in early 2008, the first independent living apartment building echoes the vernacular architecture of the nearby mountain communities. Designed as a rambling series of villas along the south-facing slope of the 17th fairway, the facility contains one and two bedroom apartments, recreation spaces, balconies and roof terraces for its residents.
