Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church

Linglestown, PA - Architecture Linglestown, PA  //  Addition  //  2004

Deferring to the straightforward neoclassical detailing of the existing sanctuary structure, the modest narthex addition provides a much needed ancillary gathering space for communal events and special functions. Constructed of authentic materials including cast stone, brick and cedar wood trim, the exterior will blend seamlessly into the existing contextual fabric of the historic church. Meanwhile, the interior will place specific emphasis on the prominent round window forms, gaining much needed natural daylight while offering significant views to the wooded areas east of the church property. This intimate “living room” for the church family will provide a cozy interior space and a sheltering portico entrance to the existing sanctuary.
