Surgical Specialists of Lancaster gains new home with distinct flare

In early 2011, Surgical Specialists of Lancaster relocated to 2101 Embassy Drive and their newly appointed offices constructed by Wohlsen Construction and designed by TONO Architects. The new facility includes examination rooms, ultra-sound diagnostics, nurses stations and the administrative offices for the physicians group.

During a recent conversation with managing partner Dr. Steven P. Woratyla, MD, FACS, he spoke fondly of his experience working with the design team at TONO.

What do you think of your experience with TONO Architects?

// As for the TONO experience, we were very pleased. We felt the process was very organized and now we have the office we envisioned.

How do you feel about the improvements to your new offices?

// We are very happy with the improvements and the space.

What would you tell someone considering hiring TONO Architects?

// I would (and do) recommend TONO to others who are looking for an architectural firm. We look forward to designing our addition with TONO when we are ready for that project as well.

  • Crossway Church Senior Pastor Discusses Long-Standing Relationship With TONO

Since 2003, TONO Architects and Crossway Church of Millersville, Pennsylvania have shared in a partnership to master plan and develop 76 acres of scenic countryside in Lancaster County for the church’s long-term home. With plans now completed for the initial phase, the church patiently waits for funding to grow to sufficient levels and construction to commence, perhaps as soon as this coming summer. When asked recently about his relationship with the firm, Senior Pastor Peter Privitera provided the following thoughts about working with TONO.

What do you think of your experience with TONO Architects and please share any thoughts about working specifically with Hunter Johnson, Dan Garner and Angelique Miller?

// TONO Architects has an enthusiasm for design that has wonderfully effected and persisted throughout each phase of our project.  It has brought me no small amount of comfort to know that they want our venture to succeed as much as I do.  Throughout the process I found Hunter approachable, considerate and potently creative.  He is committed to more than his vision of architecture.  He is committed to the client.  Dan and Angelique are incredibly talented and equally hardworking.  Much of my confidence in TONO came from knowing that they were devoted to the finished product and willing to do all the work to get us there.

How do you feel about the outcomes of the process and the design of the new church?

// We wanted a building that would facilitate the meetings of this precious body of Christians known as Crossway Church.  We wanted a design that would function for us, have a high measure of real quality, position the beauty of our property and be a true value.  I believe we have, through TONO’s leadership, achieved all of these in our design.  Speaking for our members and leaders, we cannot wait to open our new meeting house.

What would you tell someone considering hiring TONO Architects?

// You will be well served by Hunter and his team.  They are patient, creative, humble and soundly competent.  They have the rare ability to bring a combination of high level design, functionality and value.  They have been decidedly trustworthy with our project and I believe they will take the same approach to your project.

Frey Wirbick family offer “2 Thumbs Up”

Desiring to build their dream home with an environmentally conscientious soul in rural Lancaster County, husband and wife Joe Wirbick and Jen Frey challenged TONO to design a rustically sophisticated residence for their family of four. Completed in the fall of 2010, the spacious home features an open floor planning strategy with timber-framed structure, custom built-in millwork and innumerable green building components. The family generously provided the following comments when asked about their experience working with the practice.

What did you think of your experience working with TONO Architects and please share any thoughts about working specifically with Hunter Johnson?

// We came to Tono Architects frustrated because of a negative experience with another architect.  We left our first meeting happy and excited.  Shortly after, we received a letter of Tono’s vision for our new house and we were amazed! Hunter incorporated all of our wants and desires (and there were many); but also included unspoken aspects.  We felt heard and knew we had found a rare and talented architect.  Somehow, he was able to design our dreams and made it an effortless and rewarding experience.  With some architects, you are competing with their visions; but at Tono, they truly try to create yours.

What would you tell someone considering hiring TONO Architects?
// I would tell them that they would be happy and lucky to work with them.  I have yet to meet another architect who understands and supports the vision of his/her clients like the people at Tono. On a daily basis we are grateful that we chose Tono.

What do you think of your new home?

    // Joe – “2 thumbs up, a perfect 10″

// Jen – “Our dream come true. A one-of-a-kind masterpiece which is a pleasure and an honor to live in.”

// Sy (oldest son) – “A piece of artwork”

Ross Kramer, CEO of Listrak/Vertex, lauds TONO.

Earlier this year TONO helped Ross Kramer and his team at Listrak and Vertex develop a new facility for their expanding internet marketing company. Mr. Kramer kindly offered the following commentary when prompted about his recent experience working with the firm.

What did you think of your experience with TONO Architects and please share any thoughts about working specifically with Dan Garner and Angelique Miller?

// Dan and Angelique were able to capture the spirit of my design direction and put my ideas into a physical office space that is both impressive visually and functionally effective in getting our work done.  They were also able to pull it all off on an extremely limited design and construction budget.  They were cost conscious at every turn which really helped make the project a shining success.

How do you feel about the improvements to your new offices?

// Visitors to our office can’t believe what we’ve done with the space.  Our new office has helped us attract top talent to work at our company and has positioned us well to impress large clients which made them feel comfortable working with our firm.

What would you tell someone considering hiring TONO Architects?

// Waste no time getting together with the TONO team to see what sorts of miracles they can perform for you!

  • Jay Garber, CEO of Garber Metrology, commends TONO

Recently completed in the summer of 2010 [see: Garber Metrology Open House], the new corporate offices and laboratory facility for Garber Metrology inspired its namesake to offer special thanks to TONO Architects for its role in bringing his vision to life. Soon after settling into his new surroundings near Lititz, Pennsylvania, Jay Garber, President and CEO, offered the following commentary on his relationship with TONO Architects and the process of working together to design his new 53,000 square foot facility.

What did you think of your overall experience working with TONO Architects?

//  I felt the overall experience was very positive. Right now as I sit here this morning enjoying Garber Metrology’s new work environment I can’t help but think that without your keen insight the end product would have fallen far short of expectations. I felt your entire staff, bar none, was committed to ensuring my new facility was something special and unique. The culture of TONO Architects is one of polished professionalism backed by a strong team of competent personalities focused on a common goal of bringing three dimensions to life.

What would you tell someone considering hiring TONO Architects?

// I do feel anyone considering hiring TONO should feel confident that you will be working with a firm that treats your building project as if it were their own. I felt you did an excellent job of providing various concepts and options while giving guidance where you felt compromise was also acceptable.

How do you feel about the new facility and its outcome?

// Give me some more time to digest what we have built here; but for now in a word, WOW!
