Heavy Metal Jet Team hosts TONO at Lancaster Air Show

On Saturday, April 20th, staff members from TONO and their families joined Heavy Metal Jet Team as special guests at their private hangar in Lititz, Pennsylvania for the Lancaster Airport Community Days Air Show. This extraordinary civilian jet aircraft performance team lead by Jared “Rook” Isaacman and Lt. Colonel Jerry “Jive” Kerby, USAF graciously hosted TONO Architects for a fun-filled day of aircraft displays, stunt shows, military demonstrations, food and festive beverages.

HMJT highlighted the day’s events by closing the show with their six-man aerobatic demonstration piloting a combination of vintage L-39 Albatros fighter jets and a single MiG-17.

In recent months and on a related note, TONO designed the corporate offices for United Bank Card, one of the nation’s largest credit card point-of-sale systems providers. The offices are now under construction in Allentown, Pennsylvania and slated for completion later this year. Additionally, TONO has been engaged by Mr. Isaacman to create new homes for Heavy Metal Jet Team and his charter aviation business, 26 North Aviation (see related story).

  • TONO’s Interior Designer goes “Extreme”

Exhibiting her passion for helping others and putting her creative talents to work, TONO’s own Angelique Miller joined a team of volunteers in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania to help “Make-over” the next Extreme Home for ABC’s hit show by the same name. On Friday, June 24th, Angelique and her sister joined the cast of the show in hours of backbreaking, but highly rewarding work converting a modestly scaled two-story home into a highly efficient, barrier-free gracious home for a family of six in need.

Helping to landscape the exterior among the throngs of volunteers, Angelique also spent time organizing the various accessories and furnishings planned for the expanded home. When asked about her day-long experience, TONO’s Interior Designer said, “I’d do it again in a heartbeat”. “

All this effort is to help Brian Keefer, the disabled son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Keefer, become more independent. Paralyzed from the neck down in a gymnastics accident in 2008, Brian is wheelchair bound and requires daily care from his family. The newly expanded house is approximately 4000 sq ft and includes an 1800 sq ft “living quarters” for Brian, equipped to meet all his needs.

The episode of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” featuring the Keefer family will be a two-hour season premiere scheduled to air at 8 p.m. Sept. 25 on ABC. Check it out, maybe you’ll catch a glimpse of Angelique!

    Many years, many thanks

Our heartfelt appreciation goes to Jennifer Kielb for her tireless dedication, loyalty and friendship to TONO Architects in her years of dedicated service as our Office Manager. Relocating this month to Richmond, Virginia to start a new life with her newly wedded husband Michael, we are saddened to see her move on. At the same time, we congratulate her on her marriage and wish her years of bliss.

Jennifer’s infectious personality, jovial approach and significant contributions to TONO will be deeply missed, but she will always be a friend of the firm.

  • Congratulations Angelique, Michael and Logan on your new addition (we’re not not talking construction here) to the family.  Easton Michael came into the world on Wednesday, February 9th at 9 lbs. 6 oz. and a lengthy 21 inches.  That’s alot of baby for a petite girl to be carrying around full term…and then a day.  Welcome Easton and congrats to the Miller Family!

  • Congratulations go out to TONO’s Office Manager Jennifer on her recent marriage to Michael Kielb on July 3, 2010.  The wedding and reception took place on the picturesque grounds of Cameron Estate, Mount Joy.  Several of us here at TONO were skeptical whether Michael really existed since he lives out of the area and we only saw photos of him over the last few years.  After attending the beautiful ceremonies, we can attest he really exists and we wish Jen and Mike a wonderful and long lasting marriage!

  • Congratulations to Team TONO member Sharlee Van Tine with the birth of her daughter, Allie Leanna!  Allie arrived healthy, albeit 3+ weeks early, on June 4th at 5lbs. 14 oz. and 19.5 inches.  That is one long van tiney baby!  Allie joins proud daddy Craig and brother Trent in the Van Tine Family.
