Mr. Phillips studied architecture at Temple University, receiving his Bachelor of Architecture in 1997.

Returning to the firm he co-founded in 2001, Douglas C. Phillips, AIA, NCARB, CAPS rejoined the leadership of TONO Architects to become Design Director. After spending seven years at Charter Homes & Neighborhoods in Lancaster as its Director of Design, Mr. Phillips resumed his role as a Principal of TONO bringing his abundant knowledge of master planning, community development and architectural design. Alongside D. Hunter Johnson and Keith Falco, Mr. Phillips provides additional expertise and expanded capabilities for the practice specifically with large-scale institutional planning, multi-family housing development, and mixed-use properties.

Employing the latest technologies and cutting-edge design approaches, Mr. Phillips continues to propel the firm with his advancements in three-dimensional building information modeling. Along with the accomplished design team at TONO, Mr. Phillips brings newfound vigor and a zeal for thoughtfully-conceived, affordable design.

Fused with his passion for innovative residential planning, his affinity for senior care design has led to his latest credentials as a Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist. Coupled with his extensive knowledge of community master planning, Mr. Phillips’ position at TONO further broadens the firm’s distinct approach to Continuing Care and Retirement Community planning.
